You can always drive out to the second fairway. If you’re playing Flares or Ballistas (or have a high-lofted wood), it’s pretty safe to blast away and hit your approach over the trees into the green. Here’s a 7-wood over the top. With Ballistas, you can aim back a little farther and take a 6-wood over.
This 9-wood could have cleared, but Dan works it around to curve it into a right cup!
If you don’t have a 7-wood in the bag, lay back in that second fairway to give yourself a 5-wood shot over the trees instead — here’s an example hole-out.
Finally, especially with a right pin, it is possible to lay up at the end of the first fairway and take a driver in with the approach!
