Safari Dunes — Hole #8: Par 4

By • Updated: Dec 4th, 2017 • Category: Safari Dunes

You can go over or under here depending on what clubs are in your bag, and this hole should be a consideration when choosing your club set. Be careful trying to go under here, even though it’s inviting.  Even a low-teed 290 driver might not be low enough.  From the back box, here’s a low-teed […]

Mayfield — Hole #11: Par 4

By • Updated: Dec 4th, 2017 • Category: Mayfield

From the center box, here’s a great 3-wood cut through the trees with backspin for an ace. From the left box, this 4-wood threads the gap for the dunk!  Even this medium-teed 3-wood went through the middle to spin back in the hole.  And this high-teed 5-wood goes over the top to a back pin. […]

Rattlesnake Ridge — Hole #4: Par 3

With a headwind, this 7-hybrid settles into a left pin.

Rhineland — Hole #8: Par 4

By • Updated: Dec 1st, 2017 • Category: Rhineland

Rare conditions may present this hole as driveable — check out this huge high-teed C3 drive that reaches the green!  Here’s another one that carried the green. While straight ahead to the right is certainly the easy shot off the tee, it may leave you with an undesirable wind and a big downhill shot into […]

Mayfield — Hole #12: Par 5

By • Updated: Nov 27th, 2017 • Category: Mayfield

While the grassy field of the baseball diamond seems like the logical layup spot, you may still have a hard time either avoiding the sand or getting close enough to be able to reach in two from there.  Rather, look beyond to the rough that extends out towards the second fairway, to the right of […]

Royal Dubai — Hole #13: Par 5

By • Updated: Nov 10th, 2017 • Category: Royal Dubai

The most common play here will be out left, as it allows you to create the most distance and get closest to the green, especially with a big A1.  Here’s a driver hole-out from there. From back-right tee boxes, however, a better play is out to the right edge of the fairway, which allows you […]

Royal Dubai — Hole #18: Par 4

By • Updated: Nov 9th, 2017 • Category: Royal Dubai

Combine nasty winds, a crazy-shaped green and a ton of water, and you’ve got a tough finishing hole.  From the back-center box, here’s a 5-wood ace to a front-center pin. From the right box, here’s a great 2-hybrid into a left pin! From the front-left box, this 6-wood was a smooth play into a left […]

Calypso Key — Hole #17: Par 4

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Calypso Key

The right box is mostly unimpeded…here’s an easy 5-wood to a center pin. The left box is brutal here, as you need to make your way either left or right around a tower and up to the green.  A high-lofted wood is great to have in the bag for this tee box.  While left is […]

Pine Coast — Hole #4: Par 5

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Pine Coast

This hole can be driven with a good setup!  Sometimes you can blast a big B2 straight at it — other times you can play the A1 (especially turbo) to carry.  Here’s a 395-yard ace!  Here’s another ace without the turbo…can still be driven by many with good conditions.  Finally, here’s a great ace using […]

Rhineland — Hole #16: Par 4

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Rhineland

Just lay up anywhere off the tee for your approach.  Distance control will be key on the approach as long will shoot you backwards, and short is a deep sand trap. This approach was long but the hole got in the way!

Calypso Key — Hole #13: Par 3

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Calypso Key

From the front box, here’s an ace to a center pin.

Mayfield — Hole #13: Par 4

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Mayfield

From the center box, here’s a great 5-wood cut into the green for an ace.  And this high-teed 3-wood was a great play around the left side to find the cup. From the front box, it’s often nice to have a higher-lofted wood to let you go more directly over the tree to the left […]

Safari Dunes — Hole #9: Par 3

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Safari Dunes

From the back box, here’s an ace to a center pin. From the front-left box, this 9-iron finds a left pin.

Rhineland — Hole #12: Par 5

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Rhineland

Certain conditions allow you to fade a drive all the way over to the far-right fairway, which gives a great look. Most times, however, you’ll be aiming for the small island fairway straight ahead, and this can be challenging with a cross-wind.  Even from here, you’ll sometimes have to curve your approach over/around the hill […]

Mayfield — Hole #17: Par 3

By • Updated: Oct 21st, 2017 • Category: Mayfield

From the left box, here’s an ace to a front pin. From the back-center box, here’s an ace to a center pin.

Mayfield — Hole #18: Par 4

By • Updated: Oct 17th, 2017 • Category: Mayfield

Backspin, bite or maybe even a high tee into this finishing green, even though it slopes down, depending on the wind!  Sometimes it’s straight in and other times you’ll need a small cut…just make sure to clear the fence and water! Here’s a high-teed 3-wood straight at it.  This 3-wood somehow avoided the fence for […]

Royal Dubai — Hole #4: Par 3

By • Updated: Oct 17th, 2017 • Category: Royal Dubai

From the front-left box, here’s an ace to a front pin. From the back box, here’s an ace to a right pin.  And here’s a dunk to a front pin.

Safari Dunes — Hole #2: Par 5

By • Updated: Oct 12th, 2017 • Category: Safari Dunes

Try to get as long and stay as far left as possible, but because this is an early, short par 5, it’s also an option to lay up short, such as left of the sand…here’s a driver hole-out from there.

Calypso Key — Hole #15: Par 5

By • Updated: Oct 12th, 2017 • Category: Calypso Key

The most common route off the tee is out right to give you a shot through the clearing between the trees and the hill behind the green. There’s also a shot out left that may be desirable if the wind and pin allow, but it calls for an accurate shot off the tee to avoid […]

Calypso Key — Hole #12: Par 5

By • Updated: Oct 12th, 2017 • Category: Calypso Key

The end of the right side of the fairway is an option, and so is turning left and playing a big A1 drive to come in from that side.  In certain cases the middle straight ahead may be good too…just gauge the wind and your tee box to set up the best approach.

Calypso Key — Golden Tee 2018

Here are some early screenshots of the course!  Here is the official preview of the new 2018 Barbados course. “At one of the southern most points of the Caribbean lies an 18-hole golf course seemingly tucked away.
