Bonnie Moor — Hole #12

By • Updated: Feb 5th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

Now this one is debatable, but even before high tees were introduced to classic courses, rumor had it that a couple pros had driven this hole with the front-right tee box, a great wind, and a huge C3 shot.  Now with high tees and the ability to customize your bag with drivers, I have to […]

Grand Savannah — Hole #12

By • Updated: Feb 5th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

With a front tee box and a wind blowing towards the green, you actually have a chance to drive this green!  Play a big C3 with roll and you might actually get it there.  Here’s an amazing super albatross!

Sunny Wood — Hole #17

By • Updated: Feb 5th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

From the far-right box, you can hit a low-loft C3 driver and hope to cut through the trees into the green — check out this amazing super albatross!

Grand Canyon — Hole #16

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

The green can be driven most of the time, but you’ll have to control a deflection off one of a couple rocks while choosing the right club depending on the wind…below is a very elaborate explanation with examples how to pull it off! If the wind is blowing between 3:00 and 6:00, play a high-teed […]

Coconut Beach — Hole #11

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

From the front boxes, this hole can be drivable, and you’ll always want to go for it.  Even with a wind blowing hard right, you can still curve a high-teed 3-wood around into the sand at least to give yourself a chip. This high-teed 3-wood from the second-closest box found the hole!  Here’s another ace from […]

Jackrabbit Junction — Hole #12

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

From the tee boxes closest to the green and a hard wind blowing at the green, this hole can be drivable.  From the front box, you can high-tee a driver and blast a shot straight at it.  From the next box, there is also the potential of aiming straight at it, although there’s risk of […]

Sequoia Grove — Hole #17

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

Incredible risk here if you want a double-eagle chance, but it’s always “there” if you want to try it!  This driver got through the tiny gap and found the hole for an ace!  This 4-wood found the hole, but on the second try for eagle instead.  And this shot got a couple fantastic deflections off the trees […]

Pelican Grove — Hole #9

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

With certain setups you can drive this green straight at it through the trees or with a C3 cutter around the right side.  Right at it with a tailwind, through and knocked down by the tree for the dunk, here is the incredible super albatross!  Here’s another straight high-teed driver through the trees for a short DE putt. […]

Antelope Pass — Hole #14

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

This always-drivable par 5 generated quite a few super albatrosses.  You could fly straight over the mountain with some setups, and others called for you to turn right and play a C3 shot into the green. From the front-right box, you can rotate right once and cut a wood into the green…this high-teed 5-wood caught […]

Volcano Palms — Hole #16

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

This par 5 is drivable from the front box with an outwind or sometimes a side wind.  From the front-left box, this high-teed 3-wood had just enough to clear the volcano and trickle down into the hole!  This one played as a C3 into a right wind also dropped into a left pin for the super […]

Juniper Falls — Hole #16

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

Perhaps now the most famous ramp hole ever, this par 5 is home to the longest ace in GT Live history.  From the back box, this medium-teed driver took advantage of an outwind and caught the ramp with a big C3 with roll to propel up onto the green, ramming into the hole!

Pine Coast — Hole #10

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

Ironically, the back box in the screen shot is no longer used, so players always have a great chance to stick the green on this from the front box with any setup! From the front-right box, this high-teed driver just barely stays under the trees to reach the green and drop in for the super […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #14

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

With just the right conditions and a high(er)-loft, high-teed driver, it’s possible to blast a C3 out right around and over the trees onto the green — here’s an amazing ace. It’s also possible to drive the green around the left side with an A1 drive!  I believe this was a Turbo A1 before it […]

Teal Gardens — Hole #14

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Drivable Par 5s

Either a high-teed 3W or a high-teed, high-loft driver can cut around the left with a big A1 and hope to land just right to find (and hold) the green…here’s a fantastic ace with the high-loft driver.

Ramp shots

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Driving

Certain holes provide you the chance to catch a “ramp” to propel your drive otherworldly distances.  You’re looking for an uphill shot where you can play a medium-teed A1 or C3 driver with roll, especially with an outwind helping up the ramp.  Curve your shot into the upward slope and hopefully you’ll catch this ramp feature […]

The 400-yard ace club

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Driving

Since the YouTube era of Golden Tee began a few years ago, we’ve seen plenty of amazing hole-outs.  It’s a fairly small group, however, who have made their way to the top of the Great Shot points list for a single stroke by finding the hole off the tee from 400+ yards out.  This post […]

Golden Tee Club Distances and Lofts

By • Updated: Feb 4th, 2017 • Category: Golden Tee golf clubs

Now that the GT Caddy app shows the lofts of all available clubs, we’re able to construct a grid showing all clubs, their distances, and their lofts..and also whether super or plus spin is available (+/-).  While I look for the time to get that data into a grid, one fellow Golden Tee fan wrote […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #11: Par 5

By • Updated: Feb 3rd, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

From the front box, aim to the left edge of the tree island to the right.  There’s plenty of safe landing area that will give you a short open approach to the green. The tree island to the left is good too — here’s a hole-out from the right edge of that spot. From the […]

Teal Gardens — Hole #11: Par 3

By • Updated: Feb 3rd, 2017 • Category: Teal Gardens

There’s a tee box on both sides of this island green.  From the elevated box, here’s a 9-iron ace into a cross-wind. From the lower box, here’s a 9-iron ace to a back pin.

Teal Gardens — Hole #10: Par 5

By • Updated: Feb 2nd, 2017 • Category: Teal Gardens

The safe play here with all tee boxes is to club down to the highest-lofted wood you can play with a high-tee and still make the center landing pod straight ahead.  With this strategy you’ll always have enough loft to clear the trees and you’ll be rewarded with an open approach shot.  Here’s a 6-wood […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #14: Par 5

By • Updated: Feb 1st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

It’s possible to drive this par 5 with a tailwind!  From the front-right box, this big A1 driver missed the trees and just ran on by the hole.  And here’s a huge C3 around the right side that came so close to dropping!  Finally, this giant C3 did find the cup for the amazing super albatross! […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #12: Par 3

By • Updated: Feb 1st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

A couple different tee boxes here offer different approach options. From the left box, the tree can partially guard the approach — this 5-wood cuts into a back pin.

Ruby Rock — Hole #8: Par 4

By • Updated: Feb 1st, 2017 • Category: Ruby Rock

This is usually a high-teed wood right at the green where you’ll just have to worry about the wind and the distance, as it’ll clear all mountain obstacles.  With a front pin, err to the center of the green since there’s water short.  With a left pin, you may not even need a high tee…here’s a […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #15: Par 4

By • Updated: Feb 1st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

It can be tough to get on this green in 1 but at least there are forgiveness areas around the green if you miss in the right spot!  A tailwind means you can high-tee a 3/4-wood over the right side of the trees at the green (check out this 4-wood ace), and other setups may […]

Juniper Falls — Hole #5: Par 4

By • Updated: Feb 1st, 2017 • Category: Juniper Falls

It doesn’t seem like it, but a high-teed 3-wood over the top right at it always has the distance to clear and carry the green.  The next best option is the high-loft driver, which works and provides more distance.  If you don’t have the strength to pull it off, you might be looking at a driver […]

Coral Vista — Hole #5: Par 4

By • Updated: Jan 31st, 2017 • Category: Coral Vista

From the front box, here’s a rainy ace to a right pin.

Teal Gardens — Hole #16: Par 3

By • Updated: Jan 31st, 2017 • Category: Teal Gardens

From the front box, here’s a nice ace to a back pin. From the center box, here’s a dunk to a left pin!  And here’s another ace to a left pin. From the back box, this 7-wood finds a front pin.

Sandy Reef — Hole #17: Par 4

By • Updated: Jan 31st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

This can be anything from a low-teed driver straight at the green to a 3-wood cut shot through the trees to a higher-lofted club over the trees right at it.  Again, it’ll be hard to land where you have a nice open putt at the cup. From the back-left box, this 5-wood cut around nicely […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #3: Par 5

By • Updated: Jan 31st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

With most setups, you can turn left and play along the right edge of the fairway as far as you can.  You’ll be able to get there with a driver or less.  Here’s a driver hole-out to a back pin. There are a couple other options to play to spots in the right fairway towards […]

Sandy Reef — Hole #10: Par 4

By • Updated: Jan 31st, 2017 • Category: Sandy Reef

A popular shot for me is a high-teed 8-wood or 7-wood around the left side cut over the trees to the green.  From the middle box, this high-teed 8-wood went straight over the top for the ace. From the back right box, here’s a great 5-wood cut around to a back pin.  And here’s an awesome 2-iron […]
