From this tee box, a high-teed 5W cleared the tree right at the green to find the hole.
From the left fairway, here’s an 8-wood hole-out.
This medium-teed 5-wood cleared the building easily, using bite for the ace.
With a tailwind, a medium-teed 6-wood normally has enough to clear the building so backspin will hold the green. This 6-wood had some curve and caught the top of the roof but still bounced down and in!
Here’s an ace with the 9-iron.
After a drive to the left edge of the fairway, this driver approach had just enough to find the cup.
Here’s a high-teed 5W right over everything to a back pin.
With a front pin tucked behind the barn, this one gets trickier. Headwinds make it easier to drop one right over top, like this high-teed 5-wood.
You might not need as much loft as you think — this medium-teed 4-wood clears to a front-right pin.
Even if you’re short, you might get a friendly bounce off the roof!
If you can find a way to carry over to the second fairway, it’s a great option that gives you a nice look at the green in two. Here’s a 3-hybrid hole-out from the right-side of the fairway.
Another good option is to play to the dirt straight ahead towards the hole, to the right of the gallows. Blast out as far as you can, and you should have plenty of club to get there in two. Here’s a 3-wood hole-out from there.
Here’s an ace with the 6-wood.
With a strong wind blowing right, this driver was able to take aim to the left of the green to avoid the obstacles and find the cup. And this driver played more carry over the crates to find the hole.
With a strong tailwind, this 5-wood with backspin carries over the top to find the hole.

Also, they had a demo machine set up at Worlds in Vegas, and there are two feeds below showing off the new courses. Keep in mind that only Casual Play was available, which drastically affects difficulty, and that Jim Z. has already made many course alterations since that time. But still, it’s fun to see the general layouts and designs!

Custom putters have been so popular that we’re getting 22 more new options in 2020! First up is Sammich and The Kabob. Next is My 2nd Putter and Rawr. The third preview set includes Reel’n In and Ear Candy.
Tee boxes have been overhauled in GT 2020! From what we hear, there will be dozens of different possible looks on each hole, with the tee box floating all over the place. While the variety will be fun, it certainly might make it more difficult to know what clubs you need in your bag for each course!
Six new Real Time Rivals have been added to this mode of play — read about them here! Rivals mode is now online as well, meaning you can use your own player, equipment, and earn prizes by beating rivals and working your way up the ladder. You can also see a Rivals demo of Dodge City and Jamaica Bay as Kevin Lindsay faces off with John Daly for a couple rounds.
Another big change is the format and payouts for Closest to the Pin, which now pays out the top 20 players in a 50-person contest ($10 first prize) based on TOTAL DISTANCE over all 9 holes. This giant change will cause you to play more conservatively on some holes to try to make sure you stick the green and don’t blow up your distance with a shot in the rough, sand or water around the green.
