Here’s a 5-wood ace from the front-left box.  And this 3-hybrid also got some crazy bounce and spin to find the hole.

From the back-left box, this 3-wood found a center pin.  And this 3-wood got an amazing bounce back out of the bunker to find the cup!

From the front-right box, check out this amazing double-deflection out of the bunker here that was almost an insane ace!

Muscle up however you can to carry the second fairway so that you can reach this green in two — sometimes it’s a high-teed driver straight ahead, and other times you’ll rotate right and play a C3 driver to get out there, trying to avoid the sand and rough.  Here’s an example hole-out.

With a big wind here, you may be able to shatter your long drive record by playing a high-teed C3 shot — this one almost made the green!  This one did carry the green and almost found the hole — huge!

And while the Turbo A1 is still in existence, here’s a 500-yard drive that hops onto the green by the cup!

Nothing wrong with laying back in the first fairway — here’s an example hole-out.

You can play to either fairway here depending on the wind and what gives you the best approach shot.

The left fairway is the safest since you can blast away with no sand trouble.  Here’s a 9-wood dunk!  This shot caught the front rough but shot forward into the cup!

From the right fairway, this approach found a front-right pin.

This hole can be brutal with a headwind or a tough pin placement.  Rock is long, meaning you’ll bounce back short.

From the center box, this 6-iron played a small cut into a headwind and sucked back into a front pin.  This 8-iron floated over to a left pin.  And this 9-iron banked off the back wall into a back pin.  Here’s another 9-iron that bounced off the wall twice and trickled back into a front pin.

Here’s an ace from the front-right box.  Here’s another to a right pin.  And check out this amazing 4-hybrid to counteract a headwind, wow.

Coming in sideways seems to help counteract the nasty up-12 slope — here’s another example curving into a right pin.

Here’s a nice shot from the back-right box that used a little bank off the back.  This one is amazing — off the top of the back rock, right into the cup!

This tee shot fell off down to the right, but check out the incredible save!

In some cases you can blast a huge drive all the way past the sand to leave a short approach shot — here’s a great DE hole-out with roll through the rough.

This drive settled in the fairway just past the water and found the cup from there.

This drive laid up back in the neck before water, and here’s a hole-out from there.

Here’s a 3-wood that settled into a back pin.  And this 5-wood used the hill nicely to bounce into a front pin.

This 3-wood played a left-to-right curve to settle into a back pin!

Greek Hills — Golden Tee 2014

Here is the official preview of the new 2014 Greek course, and this article breaks down the course even further.

This post contains tips, tricks, and information related to the 2014 Golden Tee course Greek Hills! Check out the hole-by-hole breakdowns and example hole-outs as I partner up with the Golden Tee community to give you the edge you need to beat your friends!

This is another fun course that requires many types of shots to score well, and you’ll enjoy the scenery in the process.

Most pros use the Flares on this course since the 7-wood (or 9-wood) is quite advantageous on a couple shots, but you can certainly get by playing the Hawks as well.  If you don’t like to change clubs, then this is the year to play the Hawks across the board.  Many pros like the Streak balls for their distance, but I like the Razors this year to give you backspin and roll as well as distance and a soft landing on the green.

You can always drive out to the second fairway.  If you’re playing Flares or Ballistas (or have a high-lofted wood), it’s pretty safe to blast away and hit your approach over the trees into the green.  Here’s a 7-wood over the top.  With Ballistas, you can aim back a little farther and take a 6-wood over.

This 9-wood could have cleared, but Dan works it around to curve it into a right cup!

If you don’t have a 7-wood in the bag, lay back in that second fairway to give yourself a 5-wood shot over the trees instead — here’s an example hole-out.

Finally, especially with a right pin, it is possible to lay up at the end of the first fairway and take a driver in with the approach!

Here’s a driver ace from the back-right tee box.  This 3-wood cut through the trees straight to a back-right pin.  And this 3-wood aced a back-left pin.

This high-teed 4-wood played a huge curve around and perfectly into a front-left pin.  With a front pin, it’s often nice to play the hop off the rough in front, although you can’t always expect a one-hopper into the hole!

Most of the time you can blast a drive ahead to the left fairway, getting far enough to leave an open approach shot.  Here’s a hole-out from there.

Another option is blasting ahead to the rough area to the right, also leaving an open approach.  There are a few rocks and things that pose a little bit of risk, though.  Here’s a hole-out from there.

Finally, you can lay up at the end of the right fairway and curve your approach in from there.  Or, a 9-wood can go over the top of the right trees.  This 9-wood went right over everything from a spot in the middle of that fairway outlet.

Your tee shot here can depend on your confidence in your accuracy with C3 shots.  It’s easy to find the sand, and that will eliminate any chance at eagle.  On one hand, it may be best to blast it past all the sand as far down the fairway as you can, but of course the fairway is narrow and there’s still water in play.  Here’s one from the rough past all the sand.

There is also a bubble of fairway in the neck that you can aim for — this should be a much easier spot to stick.  You can still reach the green in two from there — here’s a nice driver hole-out.  This one played the left hill as a bankboard and spun one in the hole from there.

You can usually take aim right at this green and play a B1 swerve shot into the green.  This 5-wood found the hole after a nice hop off the front rough.  Here’s a perfectly-played 3-wood ace.

Here’s a nice aggressive 4-wood into a back pin!

Just play out to the second fairway past the sand to give yourself an open approach shot into this green.  Here’s a nice 5-wood hole-out to a right pin.

You can rarely drive the green on this par 5!  A big C3 with a helping wind can sometimes carry there.  Here’s another one that found the green.  This C3 hopped over the sand and made it on too.

You can also rarely blast a drive ahead to the second fairway with great conditions, which allow you to play maybe just a small curve shot around the hill on your approach into the green.

Perhaps the next best spot to be is in the rough to the left of the island fairway patch straight ahead.  If you can stick this area, you can float a 5-wood into the green — here’s a 5-wood hole-out from there.

Also, towards the end of this fairway, you’ll have a bit of a closer approach (likely with driver still), but it’s tougher to stick this spot on the left end of the fairway — here’s a hole-out from there.

Your next option should be laying back to the left in the first fairway, just short of where the trees would interfere with your approach in.  This gives you a long, but usually manageable, approach in as well.  Here’s a driver hole-out from there.

That island fairway landing spot is very tough to stick.  And if you miss, it can be tough to recover from there (see demo).  Here’s a 3-wood hole-out from there.

With a good wind and tee, you can carry the hill and drive this green, so check out the setup before laying up in the fairway.  This big C3 driver was oh-so-close to dropping!  But this A1 carried the sand and caught a back cup — amazing!  Finally, this high-teed driver carried the sand straight at it and found the hole!

Here’s a nice hole-out to a front pin after laying up.

Here you can either take aim at the green and float a wood out to the right with a B3-type shot, or you can rotate right once and take more of an angle into this green — check out this fantastic 6-wood ace.

You can’t get there in two hitting out to the right, so you’ll be playing a small curve around to the left, short of the water, for one of three different types of approach shots.

Actually, there is a layup spot ahead in the rough that can give you an open look at a right pin — check it out!

First, you can float something like a 3-wood around the right side of the mountain to settle down on the green.  This works best if the wind helps out blowing left.  Also with a left pin, this driver carried over and around and backspun in the hole.

With the driver, you can also potentially use that C3 shot around the hill to skip off the water and hold the green.

Many times, though, you can roll a shot up and over the hill straight at the green.  Most any type of club works, but the more loft you can get away with, the better.  For instance, with a headwind, a great shot could be hitting a 3-wood with roll into a spot on the hill that will hit and carry over without catching any trees.  With a tailwind, perhaps bite or no spin can work, so that your ball doesn’t carry into the water after rolling down the front of the hill!  This 5-wood went into and over the hill and found a right cup.  And this 5-wood hit and rolled down into a left pin.

This shot looked like it had problems, but after a rock-deflection it somehow finds the hole!  And this driver manages to deflect over and float down for a perfect dunk!

If you end up short of the green, consider that this putt jumped the grass and found the cup!

This hole is drivable under optimal conditions — check out this big C3 around the right side that deflected off the rock onto the green!  And this one hopped the sand and nearly buried in the hole.

Otherwise, the trees don’t pose much of an issue cutting around to the second fairway off the tee — here’s an example hole-out from there.

Short holes like this can be challenging because you’ll often have a gap in your clubs and need to get creative.  Here’s a gap wedge that carried into a back pin, and here’s another one with the sand wedge.

Big headwinds can make this hole tough and make you consider clubbing up to hit a little punch shot instead to counteract the wind.  This one was coming in hot but caught the cup!  Here’s another screamer to a center pin.  This one was a 5-iron with bite counteracting a big cross-wind.

From the front box, this lob wedge found a back-left pin.

From the back-right box, there are several options.  Up and around is the safest play because you take the trees out of play.  However, there are gaps there that allow you to go at the green with the right loft and distance — for instance, a low-teed 4-wood works well from the left side of the box towards the middle/back.  From the back-left of the box, here’s a low-teed 4-wood through the gap that game pretty close.  From the middle-left of the box, this one found the hole.  A low-teed 5-wood can be thumbed through there too if you have the distance — it’s just a matter of finding just the right loft to be over and under the tree gap.

Now, if the wind is blowing right, you can also play the next gap over.  You don’t have to worry about being too low, because there’s no tree to clear over there…just stay under the tall one.  So here’s a 3-wood that bounced on and in.

If you have a 9-wood in the bag, you can also high tee that and take it over the left corner of those trees — check out this example.

Another non-recommended option is to skip around the left side — check out this low-teed 2-hybrid ace!  But if you miss the hole, it’s likely wet on the other side.  Here’s another 2-hybrid cut around that found the cup!

Here’s a logic-defying shot…almost ends up in the left fairway, but somehow bounces up and over to the green and finds the hole!

There’s another tee box out to the left that removes the trees as an obstacle — here’s a finishing ace from there.  This 5-wood was nicely played into a top left pin.
